Multilabelling  
     
 
In a multilabelling experiment, two or more probes are labelled with different fluorophores, which have sufficiently different emission wavelengths to distinguish them. This makes parallel processing of different samples possible, which is one of the major advantages of fluorescence labelling techniques. Many applications like array technology, proteomics, 1D-gelelctrophoresis, fluorescence in situ hybridisation etc. benefit from this strategy. In order to make use of the broad spectrum of different possible fluorphores, detection systems should have flexibility in the excitation wavelength as well as in the emission filters. Highly efficient multilabelling can be imaged with Stella and FMBIO, which provides a maximum flexibility in fluorescence excitation.
